Fundraising Activities |
Fundraising is a vital part of the financial health of the Huntington Society of Canada. Thanks to the generosity of many donors, who collectively donate more than $1.5 million annually, the Society is able to carry out its important programs in research, education and public awareness, individual/family services and chapter development.
At the national level, activities include appeals to individuals, corporations, foundations and other funders and working with area representatives and chapters to develop special requests for projects in their areas. The Society's office provides support, encouragement, advice and materials to local groups to help in their fundraising projects.
Funds are also raised through a variety of campaigns throughout the year, such as our Amaryllis Campaign, Huntington's Indy and Dress Down Days. Volunteer chapters and area representatives across Canada take part in these campagins and organize their own fundraising events, such as bingos, casinos, door-to-door campaigns, hikes and walks, garage sales and more to raise money.
Each Fall, volunteers of the Huntington Society sell beautiful Amaryllis gift kits across Canada and raise money and awareness for the fight against Huntington disease.
Each kit comes complete with a top-quality amaryllis bulb, pot and saucer, soil and growing instructions, and is packaged in an attractive gift box. Available just before Christmas, the kits make excellent gifts for teachers, seniors, shut-ins, hostesses, or anyone who appreciates their colour and vibrancy throughout the cold winter months.
This annual campaign raises about $65,000 each year for the fight against Huntington disease, and is a signature programme of the Huntington Society of Canada. Our volunteers make the campaign successful, selling the kits to their friends, family members, co-workers and others.
You can get involved in the Huntington Societys Amaryllis campaign by selling just one case of 12 Amaryllis kits. The Society will provide you with posters and brochures about the Amaryllis campaign, and will deliver your kits to the address of your choice.
To take part in the Fall Amaryllis campaign, contact the Huntington Society at 1-800-998-7398, or email our Fundraising Coordinator. Together, we can Grow a Brighter Future.
