If you want to make sure, on the day of the event, that you don't have volunteer backout, have 50 people on the committee. Only 4 -5 will be delegated work, the rest(when you approach them)will be notified that they are wanted for their input as committee members, not to do major tasks. This will make most people attend the event, because they feel obligated being a committee member. The majority of people that show up to your first meeting, that are not committee members, will not show up on the day of the event. This is a way of guaranteeing that at least 50 people show up. You are protecting the success of you event on several levels. Trent Goudie potential HD area rep NL
