Get Involved with the Huntington Society |
All across Canada, volunteers are getting ready for the 3rd Annual Huntington's Indy Go Kart Challenge. Participants will be at the starting line on September 13, 1998 at go-kart tracks in nearly every province.
"This national fund raising event is an important component of our fundraising program," says Harriet McLoughlin, HSC's Director of Development. "It's a great event because it is easy for our volunteers to organize, fun for the participants, and, most importantly, raises much-needed funds to continue the fight against Huntington disease."
The Indy is a two-hour event in which teams of up to six drivers race around the go-kart track. Prior to the event, drivers sign up donors to sponsor their participation in the Indy.
"We're looking for volunteers to help us expand this program," says Harriet. "Raising the money we need to support our crucial programs is more challenging than ever. The Indy event is one area which has a huge potential for revenue growth. I urge eveyone to think about being involved in the Indy, or even organizing an event at their local tracks."
Volunteer Indy organizers can get everything they need from the National office to make their events successful: professionally-produced pledge sheets, t-shirts, media kits to help advertise the events, prizes and guidance from staff on how to plan and execute the event.
