Vancouver, B.C. Chapter President’s Message
Welcome to the BC Chapter of the Huntington Society of Canada’s website. We are a group of volunteers and area representatives who fundraise to fund scientific research and programs towards finding a cure for Huntington Disease.
Additionally, Public Awareness continues to be a Chapter focus.
May is Huntington Awareness Month, keep a look out at this time of year for Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and our Annual Hike for Huntington’s which is a fun event that attracts over 200 hikers each year. Each year the attendance grows.
All of our work cannot happen if it were not for our committed group of volunteers! From Bingos, to serving on the local Board of Directors, helping out at our Hike in May, to mailing out letters to Service Clubs and other Organizations, we cannot continue to fight for a cure without the invaluable help from our volunteers. If you are interested in becoming involved in any of these activities, please contact us at 604-682-3269 ext 6159.
October has us contacting the local Vancouver and Lower Mainland H.D. Community to attend a tour and open house of the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics, this is a must-see and a wonderful opportunity for the community to meet, speak and see the amazing research work being done by Dr Blair Leavitt and his scientific team at this location. It is always so inspiring to see the work that is being done to search for a cure.
We are always open to other social and fund raising events, I encourage you to become involved at whatever level and in whatever activity that is meaningful to you. We need your help!
